How to shortlist without wasting a month
Eliminate before you evaluate. Rule out any provider whose minimum engagement exceeds your volume, whose certifications do not cover your industry, or whose delivery locations conflict with a data residency requirement you already carry. That usually leaves three or four.
Compare the survivors on the things that decide whether an engagement works: who your day-to-day contact is, how agents are trained and monitored, what reporting you get and how often, how quickly capacity moves up and down, and what happens when something breaks overnight.
Scale is easy to verify and rarely decisive. Account attention is hard to verify and almost always is.
Onshore, nearshore, or offshore
US buyers have three delivery choices and the right answer depends on the work rather than the budget. Fully documented, rarely ambiguous contacts run well offshore. Work that regularly needs a decision from someone at your company degrades across a time gap, which is what nearshore delivery exists to solve. Regulated or contractually restricted work stays onshore.
Questions worth asking on the call
What is attrition on the specific team my programme would sit in? How many accounts does a team lead carry? What share of contacts gets quality-reviewed, against what scorecard? What is the escalation path when your supervisor cannot resolve something and my team is asleep? Can I see a sample of the reporting I would receive?
Vague answers to those tell you more than a polished capability deck. For the full international picture, see our top 15 BPO companies in the world.
